Fairmount Center for the Arts and Berkshire Schools Announce Arts Partnership
We are excited to be expanding our work with Berkshire Schools in Burton this coming year! Read more about this new initiative in the press release below.
Berkshire Schools and Fairmount Center for the Arts are partnering to bring adapted arts programming to preschoolers through high schoolers during the 2024-2025 school year. Dance, music, theater and visual arts programs will be offered. Storytime music and art classes for preschoolers will promote early childhood literacy in an arts-enriched environment.
“I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Fairmount Center for the Arts for their invaluable partnership in bringing adaptive arts programming to our Berkshire students,” said John Stoddard, Superintendent, Berkshire Local Schools. “The arts serve as a powerful outlet for creativity and expression, enriching our students' experiences and helping to prepare them for the diverse challenges of life. Together, we are fostering a well-rounded education that empowers our youth to thrive both academically and personally.”
“We are thrilled to be expanding our partnership with Berkshire Schools to provide inclusive arts experiences for Berkshire students,” said Elizabeth Bolander, Executive Director of Fairmount Center for the Arts. “Participating in the arts can bring so many positive outcomes for students, including increased confidence, critical thinking, and creativity. We are looking forward to finding even more ways to work with the Berkshire community to support arts enrichment opportunities for all.”
“Many students with disabilities will be able to access these opportunities at no cost due to our Fairmount Center for the Arts partnership and the Ohio Arts Council grant opportunity,” added Dr. Vanessa Karwan, Director of Professional Learning and Community Outreach.
The adapted arts programming initiative is made possible in part by an investment of public funds from the Ohio Arts Council (OAC). The OAC is a state agency that funds and supports quality arts experiences to strengthen Ohio communities culturally, educationally and economically. The Arts Partnership grant supports arts education projects that address the needs of individual learners and their communities. Grant recipients engage in collaborative planning with partners, emphasize in-depth study of the arts, and use arts learning outcomes and standards-based arts education practices.
